Far from Family

DIRECTOR / MARION BLOEM

FAR FROM FAMILY tells the story of a closely-knit Indonesian family in the Netherlands. On her dying day, grandmother Em’s biggest wish is to get in touch with her granddaughter Barbie, who grew up in the United States.

The family tries to prevent Em from meeting Barbie, afraid that such a meeting could lead to a confrontation with taboos and family secrets that would be too much for Em.

FAR FROM FAMILY is an initiative of Marion Bloem and Rocketta Film and is a co-production of Rocketta Films (from NADINE and WILD MUSSELS) and IJswater Films.
