Fantastic news from South America! “The Heart of Hadiah Tromp”, Erik de Bruyn’s telefilm with Chloé Leenheer in the title role, is the winner of no less than six awards at the Five Continents International Film Festival in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela! The film got the awards for Best Comedy Film, Best Production Design, Best Screenplay, Best Lead Actress Feature Film, Best Supporting Actor Feature Film and Best Director Feature Film.

“The Heart of Hadiah Tromp” was broadcasted by NPO3 earlier this year on Valentine’s day as the first film of the new series of telefilms. The film also won the Best Foreign Film Award at the Honolulu Film Awards in Hawaï  and was acclaimed Best Romantic Film at the Lake View International Film Festival in India shortly after, so with the Venezuelan success, a third continent is added to the prize cabinet.

The Navy was serious business, until Hadiah Tromp came aboard…

The quirky Dutch-Jamaican Hadiah Tromp (21), daughter of Navy officer Tromp, does not like her Navy training, while her father thinks it’s a perfect match. Hadiah rather stays home to listen to her old Ska records. When her boyfriend cheats on her, she decides to finish her training, but she doesn’t feel at home on the naval frigate and has conflict with the handsome but stern Sergeant Major Paul Borremans. Can the impulsive Hadiah stand tall in the strict Navy environment?
“The Heart of Hadiah Tromp” is a musical romantic comedy with catchy Ska music, written by Erik de Bruyn and Edward Stelder and directed by Erik de Bruyn.
