Here I Am

At the age of 2 he was already drumming on pots and pans and at the age of 3 he was on stage for the first time. Ilij Haegens has been drumming for 8 years, but he wants to get even better: ‘You are never done learning’, he says. Ilij is small and among the big boys in the drum bands he is always the smallest. Ilij: ‘When you are small you have to be a bit more cheeky, otherwise no one will see you.’ Ilij has recently become a band leader. He teaches the children himself and prepares them for an important performance in the summer.
