Anna (10) feels insecure because she can't keep up at school. Her imagination is sparked when grandpa Koos tells her about Charlie, the miraculous tree girl who was also different from other children. Anna's confidence grows as she takes grandpa on a journey where the boundary between imagination and reality is crossed.

Charlie the Tree Girl was previously selected for the Cinema Junior collaboration project of the Film Fund and the NPO and is now in development as a regular youth film, supported with selective funding from the Netherlands Film Fund.
