Anna (11) is completely absorbed in the exciting story that her grandfather Koos (68) tells about Charlie, the wonderful tree girl he was friends with when he was the same age as Anna. Anna and Koos find each other in their need to escape from reality. The boundary between reality and imagination is broken when Anna helps Koos to be with Charlie in the woods one last time.

Charlie the Tree Girl was previously selected for the Cinema Junior collaboration project of the Film Fund and the NPO and is now in development as a regular youth film, supported with selective funding from the Dutch Film Fund.
