Anton de Kom, I shall be heard

DIRECTOR / EDSON DA CONCEICAO

'Anton de Kom - I shall be heard' (working title) tells the story of the eventful life of the Surinamese - Dutch writer, activist and resistance fighter Anton de Kom, author of the book: 'We slaves of Suriname' (1934). Torn by the injustice of colonialism, social exploitation and the betrayal of his motherland. Revered, exiled, persecuted and declared crazy, he still found the strength to tell the story that would inspire generations to this day. This – in many respects – historic feature film plan has been supported by the Dutch Film Fund with a screenplay development subsidy.

Awarded at the Dutch Film Festival / Holland Film Meeting (selection 'Stories & Beyond') with the NFF Script Development Award HFM 2022.
