FAR FROM FAMILY is the long-awaited debut of the Dutch novelist and artist MARION BLOEM as a feature film director. Marion Bloem is known for her best-selling novel GEEN GEWOON INDISCH MEISJE and she directed the short VPRO telefilm DE TOVENAARSLEERLING (Kid Screen Award).
Marion Bloem is also the writer of the scenario for VER VAN FAMILIE. The film is financed almost entirely with a subsidy from the HET GEBAAR Foundation; a public fund especially aimed at the Indonesian community in the Netherlands.
FAR FROM FAMILY is a co-production of IJswater Films and Rocketta Films.
